Couldn't find the Lexmark site. My search of the net gave me heaps of sites when I searched Lexmark but in the 100's listed it didn't show up the Lexmark site. I have a Lexmark X1100 all in one printer. Lexmark does not make any linux drivers. Is there a printer that I select that will emulate my printer? A quick Google search - which I'm sure you could have done yourself, but anyway... ;-) - lead me to loads of references regarding the Lexmark X1100.

Check on linxprinting.org to see if the printer you have in mind will be able to work. The lexmark 1185 is not listed, which is not a good sign. Is it a reasonable printer or not? Its one of the very low end printers that virtually all the majors have. These 3 color printers have the main downside that with the color cartridge in use, They also have high capacity black only cartridges. Can Lexmark Printers interface with Mac's?
Lexmark cartridges are expensive. (I bought a Laserjet in a sale, a year ago, for less than half the price of a Lexmark _black_ ink cartridge, but I don't expect you to be that lucky.) Well, that's their current tactics (or strategy): they practically give printers out and then charge the cartridges half an arm.
